Description
46,500.00 GBPWilco Aviation is delighted to present for acquisition a truly remarkable aircraft: the meticulously maintained Jodel D150 Mascaret, bearing the registration G-BHVF. This classic aircraft is presently situated at our primary operational base, Henstridge Airfield, and is available for viewing.
The Jodel D.150 Mascaret represents a significant chapter in French aviation history. Originating in the 1960s, this two-seat, single-engined light aircraft was crafted by Soci t A ronautique Normande (SAN). Its design served as a successor to the widely recognised Jodel D11 trainer/tourer aircraft, fulfilling a need for modern training and recreational flying.
In the year 1961, the esteemed aircraft designer Jean D l montez conceived this two-seat light aircraft for SAN, located in Bernay, Normandy. The primary objective was to replace the preceding Jodel D.11, which SAN, among other manufacturers, were producing to meet the demand for aircraft intended for French government-subsidised flying clubs. D l montez drew upon the design principles of his larger three four seat Jodel Ambassadeur, which SAN was also manufacturing. This involved adapting the Ambassadeur s design by reducing the wingspan and shortening the fuselage.
This new aircraft, designated the D.150 Mascaret a name inspired by a tidal bore achieved its maiden flight on June 2, 1962, and entered production in 1963.
As with all light aircraft designed by D l montez under the Jodel and Robin marques, the D.150 exhibits a low-winged monoplane configuration, constructed primarily of wood, and is immediately identifiable by its distinct upturned outer wings. Notably, the D.150 was the pioneering Jodel model to incorporate an all-moving tail, a feature subsequently implemented in larger models such as the DR.1051 (Sicile Record). The aircraft is equipped with a fixed tailwheel undercarriage, and its cockpit accommodates two occupants in a side-by-side arrangement beneath a two-door canopy. The D.150 was offered with the same range of engines as the larger Ambassadeur, therefore providing very good performance for a two seat training and touring aircraft.
