Description
For sale is a Fournier RF 5B "Sperber", built in 1975 (Serial No. 51063), with the reserved aircraft registration D-KIRK. The aircraft is currently not in airworthy condition and disassembled but offers an excellent basis for reactivation and customization.
The motor glider was acquired in 2024 from an heritage, having been stored in a hangar for over seven years. Due to limited available time and the absence of a permanent hangar space, the aircraft is now being offered for sale.

Engine & Propeller: On condition
The Limbach engine has been successfully brought back into operation following a magneto overhaul ( 1,300 including EASA Form One), along with additional minor maintenance tasks such as valve adjustment,... . Compression values are excellent, and a borescope inspection of the cylinders showed a remarkably clean internal condition. The engine now runs smoothly and starts reliably. The overhauled magneto covers the most expensive part of engine maintenance for the next 250 operating hours.
Avionics
The wiring has been started to renewed and is pre-configured for the installation of a KRT2 8.33 kHz radio (plug & play). A suitable radio unit and a new anti-collision light still need to be installed.
Exterior
The aircraft s wooden structure is overall in solid condition. The surface finish shows age-related wear (approx. 5/10), with major sections of the wings and fuselage already cosmetically refreshed. The main remaining task is final assembly. Several bolts and small hardware items should also be replaced during reassembly. It should be possible to get the plane airworthy within a week.
Additional Features
Special Features
Efficient Aerodynamics & Cruise Performance:
Thanks to its retractable landing gear and variable-pitch propeller, the RF 5B offers high cruising speed with low fuel consumption supported by its low weight and aerodynamically slender design.
Excellent Gliding Characteristics:
With a glide ratio of 26:1, the RF 5B performs exceptionally well in unpowered flight and belongs to the top tier of touring motor gliders.
Modernization Potential:
Due to its current state of disassembly, the aircraft offers extensive opportunities for individual customization both technically and visually.
Included Equipment:
Additional fuel tank (installed by the previous owner)
A 9-meter transport trailer is included in the sale. While not specifically built for this aircraft, it is suited for transporting the RF 5B.
