Description
Jodel D140 E 120,000Exceptional aircraft.
These fabulous 4 seat aircraft do things no other LAA types can. Short field. I've been into a 200m strip. Lifting capability - MAUW 1200kg 500kg useful load. 230 litre tanks. 6 hours plus endurance. 4 adults, baggage, and fuel.
One huge rear locker - 90kg. Front locker 60kg.
Built 2009. LAA best plans built winner several times. Concourse winner France. The ramp appeal of this large impressive aircraft leads to lots of interest wherever she lands. Built by Lou Rex and his son John Rex (both engineers). The craftsmanship is peerless. I've heard the woodwork described as exceeding that of a Stradivarius violin. This extends to those parts of the aircraft, such as the wing, which are covered and cannot be seen. Varnished rather than painted to show off the fantastic woodwork.
Huge amount of recent work now complete. All overseen by Miles McCullum, including firewall forward complete major overhaul, new undercarriage, new prop, new wing fabric and paint (Aircraft Coverings ltd), and a lot more. it would be fair to describe this aircraft is as new.The engine for example sports new crankshaft, new camshaft, new crankcase, new pistons etc. All parts new from Lycoming. Work carried out by Steve Hodge at Soar Aviation. Ready for many years service. Just about run in and using very little oil. All recommissioning squawks have been identified through extensive test flying, running in, and have been dealt with. This aircraft is a joy to fly. Relatively benign for a tail dragger and hugely capable. The ultimate tourer.
